This planning tool shows all the key sheep-production activities in a calendar, to help you manage your ewes effectively.
You choose a target date type - tupping or lambing - and a mob type, a mob name if you want, and the target date.
When you click Add Mob, all activities from pre-lambing through to lambing for that mob are shown in the calendar. You can add up to seven different mobs, all for the same target date type. This makes it easy to see and manage your busy times. You can rename mobs after you add them using the button in the top right of the screen.
In the calendar view, you can move or delete some activities around to suit your own farm practice and schedule. You can add your own events to the calendar - simply click the day you wish to add the event to. You can move events by clicking on them, and dragging and dropping them on another date. You can also edit an event to span multiple days by clicking on the right hand side of the activity and dragging them around. Events that are moveable or deletable display an icon on the top right corner of the event.
You can choose to hide a mob, or a set of activities (such as Veterinary treatments, Ram health, Winter shearing), with the filters below the calendar. You can view the activities in calendar or table form, and print either view. You can print 6 or 12 months at once, but only in monthly view.
You can add your own events to the calendar - simply click the day you wish to add the event to. You can remove these events by clicking on them, and move them or make them span multiple days by clicking and dragging them around.
To save your settings, choose Save and enter your email address at the prompt. Check your email - the Planning Calendar will send you a link. Next time you wish to use the Calendar simply open this link, and your saved calendar will appear.
When you save your calendar you can choose to receive a weekly email reminding you of upcoming events in your calendar. Reminder emails are sent early every Sunday morning. You can choose to unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
Mob and event names can only use standard alphanumeric characters, spaces, and apostrophes, full stops, commas, hyphens, and exclamation marks.
The Sheep Planning Calendar is based on FlockMaster, a programme we produced in 2007 with input from AgResearch. We acknowledge the AgResearch input into the data set used for this calendar. As with the flockmaster programme the activities have a focus on reproduction health.
As we further develop this tool we will create additional activities covering other management aspects.
